Brian Haverkate

Brian Haverkate's RARB Bio

Brian Haverkate holds a bachelor's degree in choral music education from Florida State University, where he was involved with the University Singers, Vocal Jazz ensemble, Men's Glee Club, and Gospel Choir. During his time at FSU, Brian sang in concert halls such as Washington D.C.'s Kennedy Center for the 2000 Music Educators National Conference (MENC), as well as, venues in Vietnam as part of a two-week concert tour of the country. The FSU University Singers were the first U.S. music ensemble to perform in the country since the Vietnam War.

Brian founded and directed the highly acclaimed Florida State co-ed a cappella group, All-Night Yahtzee, who recently appeared in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella Finals in New York City (which he was not a part of because he's old and long gone from FSU). Brian also attended Michigan State University, where he co-founded The Accafellas, who have since been featured on the Best of College A Cappella album. He has written more than 100 a cappella vocal arrangements for middle school, high school, and collegiate groups across the country. He is a vocal percussionist, arranger, and baritone. Brian helped found CAL group, SoundXposure in Naples, Florida and has sung with the Detroit-area CAL group, Two Weeks Notice. Brian currently teaches high school and middle school chorus in Clarkston, Michigan where he incorporates contemporary a cappella into his choral program.
